Namibia have a big task ahead to try and qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup when four teams assemble in Dubai to compete for the single slot in a repechage competition following the completion of regional qualifiers.
Three other teams, Samoa, Belgium and Uruguay will also be in the hunt for the single ticket in a round robin tournament format where the winner shall book a ticket for the tournament to be hosted by Australia. Already, Zimbabwe booked a place in the expanded tournament after edging out Namibia 30-28 in a Rugby Africa Cup hosted by Uganda in July 2025.
One week later, Namibia flexed their muscles to overran the United Arab Emirates 86-29 in Kampala, a match that pitted losers from the Asian and Africa region qualifiers to advanve to the final in Dubai.
According to a schedule released by World Rugby, the competition for this single slot will kick off on November 8 when Namibia face Belgium. On Match day two, Namibia tackle Samoa on November 13 before coming up against Paraguay on November 18. They must win all their matches to be reassured of the single ticket.
