Twelve counties will be in Accra, Ghana to participate in the Africa Women’s Sevens tournament from November 9 to 10, 2024.

The tournament which will also act as a qualifier for the World Rugby Challenger Series shall be staged at the University of Ghana Stadium the same venue which hosted sevens rugby at the last All Africa Games.

Already, three teams have had build up matches. Madagascar were in Dubai for the World Rugby XV matches, the same as South Africa who were at home.

Kenya Lionesses used the just concluded Safari Sevens tournament in Machakos to identify potential players for the three-day event. All eyes will be on South Africa who lost their World Rugby Sevens World Series core status at the end of this season as they begin rebuilding to regain promotion.

On the other hand, Madagascar and Kenya complete the mix as the top seeds with a strong challenge expected from Tunisia and Uganda.

Confirmed teams: Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
