Uganda will host next year’s Rugby Africa Cup following a successful event that finished at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole on Sunday.
Herbert Mensah, the Rugby Africa president made the announcement before presenting the trophy to Zimbabwe who beat Algeria 29-3 to win this year’s title. At stake next year will be a qualification for the next Rugby World Cup.
The teams will be paired together according to this year’s ranking that shall include one of the teams to be promoted.
Namibia, the former champions beat Kenya 38-27 to win the bronze medal. In the semi-finals, Zimbabwe upset Namibia 32-10. This was their first win over Namibia in 22 years.
Hilton Mudariki, the Zimbabwe Sables captain said Namibia were a good side but they found a way to unlock their defense. Algeria rallied from behind to beat Kenya 20-12.
