Philip Wokorach has called time off after four years at ASBC (Avenir Sportif Bedarrides Chateauneuf du Pape, a French National Championship 2 side. A post on his Instagram page did not give an indication of his next move but just thanked everyone at the club who made his stay enjoyable.
ASBC was knocked out by US Rooms in the quarter final of the championship. The “National 2” is a new competition that has 24 teams playing in two pools of 12 with the top four proceeding to the quarter final. The finalists are promoted to “National” and the bottom two in each pool drop to “Federal 1”. The IG post read:
To all the players I’ve had the pleasure of sharing a changing room over the years, it’s been an absolute honor.
To all the managers and coaches that I’ve played under plus the staff that have made the club tick and run smoothly in the background, I’d like to say a massive thank you for your commitment.
Most importantly to the fans, sponsors and media that made Bedarrides feel like my home away from home. The support you’ve given me personally, and the club, during the highs and lows has been truly unbelievable. I’m truly grateful to have played over 70+ games for this incredible club which I hold dear to my heart!
Wishing you all the best in the future.
Wokorach who also founded the PW15 Foundation in Kampala, Uganda is likely to be in the Uganda Sevens team to Monaco where 12 teams shall fight it out for the remaining slot in the Olympic Games in Paris, France next month.
