Africa will not have a core team in the World Rugby Sevens series after South Africa lost 0-22 to hosts Spain in the quarter final of the qualifier at Civitas Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.

Spain will be joined by China, the Challenger Series winners who beat Belgium 33-0 and Japan, 26-12 winners over Argentina. Brazil also retained their scoot as a core team.

Qualifiers

Women: China 33 Belgium 0, Spain 22 South Africa 0, Japan 26 Argentina 12, Poland 7 Brazil 38.
