Uganda bagged the men’s and women’s titles of 7s rugby at the 13th All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana. Both teams finished with unbeaten records as rugby made its debut at the continental games that were delayed by one year. 

The Uganda Cranes silenced rivals, Kenya Morans 21-14 in their final match at the University of Ghana. On their way to the podium in the seven-team competition, Uganda opened with a 14-0 win over Zimbabwe and blanked Tunisia 48-0.

On the second day, Uganda continued the winning ways by edging out Burkina Faso 24-15 and hosts Ghana 22-5. The destiny was in their hands on the third day where Uganda kept a clean sheet against Benin by winning 56-0 and beat Kenya 21-14.

Earlier, the Lady Cranes clinched gold by finishing unbeaten in the five-team competition. They opened up with a statement 37-7 win over Tunisia and Ghana 50-7.

On the final day, the Lady Cranes completed their run with a 32-12 win over Nigeria and kept a clean sheet against Madagascar by winning 29-0.

Both teams traveled to Ghana direct from Montevideo, Uruguay after playing at the second World Rugby Challenger Series.
