KCB claimed the first title of the 2023 National Sevens Circuit, defeating Kabras Sugar to win the Dala 7s at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday 2 July 2023.

It was Kabras RFC who broke the deadlock after Barry Robinson swiftly cut through the KCB defense line to land the first try but the conversion drifted wide in the opening minutes of this edge-of-the-seat final. Four minutes later, Edmund Anya rounded his defenders to land a converted center post try for the halftime scores to read 7-5 in favor of the Bankers.

The second half was end-to-end action but it was KCB who extended the lead as Jacob Ojee pounced on a loose ball off Kabras’ play and made his way to the try line for an unconverted try. The Bankers’ made their intentions as they landed their third and victory-sealing try off a line out, Austin Sikutwa popped the ball to Captain Vincent Onyala who dotted down giving his side a 17-5 lead to reclaim the title they last lifted in 2019 and their fifth Dala7s title overall.

Strathmore Leos edged Kenya Harlequins 24-19 in the sudden death of the Bronze final while Mwamba RFC was victorious in the fifth-place playoff with a 10-5 win over the Menengai Oilers. Nondies RFC’s 12-10 win saw them claim the challenge Trophy and Western Bulls beat their town rivals MMUST 19-12 to lift the 13th-place win.
